Saturday 15th November 1941

7p.m. There is a “panic” on, as it has been reported that an entire Jerry division has taken to rubber boats near here. An attack by parachute troops is also expected at daybreak or sometime tomorrow. Personally, I don't think anything will come of it and Lord knows where the information came from but it is apparently authentic.

We don't stand-to again until 5a.m. but everyone has to sleep with a rifle, bayonet, hand grenades or other means of destruction, “ready for instant use”. It certainly would be a sod if Jerry forestalled the impending British attack by a little private blitz of his own!
